How to Reduce and Reuse
Prevent the wasting of energy to make them and others of Earth's resources, as well as pollution from chemicals needed to alter resources into a finished product
Reuse
- containers for storage
- 1-sided paper (there is already writing/graphics on one side) for 1-sided printing, drawing, scratch, origami, crafts, up-cycled wrapping paper, in-class questions or quizzes. (Cut all sheets in ½ to make each sheet go farther).
- shirts for reusable gift wrapping
Reuse
- Avoid one-time use purchases, such as straws, water bottles, and even paper towels.
- Avoid plastic party favor bags
- Avoid cheap plastic party favors or prizes that will undoubtedly be thrown away in hours or even minutes.
- Utilize reusable writing surfaces for quick notes or drawings: smartphones, white boards, Boogie Boards (you can photograph your product)
- Utilize BLEND to show the instructions for class, rather than printing them out.
- Use erasable white boards, tablets, and apps like Google or BLEND to respond during class, when possible
- Reconsider the learning efficiency of the adorable foldable you use (these are going to be the hardest to let go--unless that awesome foldable is super efficient!)
- Create a "Reuse Box" for students and you to place one-sided papers, even though the opposite side has already been used. Use it for scratch, quizzes, drawing paper, crafts, and to print class sets on! Color does't matter.
